3rd race [NY, Alw 90000N1X, 7F] – (6) Cammin’ Duke (B) raced six wide, fought gamely down the stretch, and missed by a head in his second start of the year. (2) Caldo Candy broke his maiden in January and was second while stepping up to face winners in a March allowance. (7) Land d’Oro was a maiden winner in his second career start this year in March and then ran second the entire way in his allowance debut. (5) Silver Satin got his maiden victory in his third try at Aqueduct earning one of the top speed figures in this field of nine.

4th race [Jersey Girl, 6F] – (5) Almostgone Rocket debuted in April at Oaklawn Park and won by almost 12 lengths as an odds-on favorite. She stepped up to allowance company at Churchill Downs and was again an easy winner by open lengths as the favorite. (8) Gray Lightning has three victories in four starts by a combined 28 lengths at Parx Racing. The Pennsylvania-bred has two allowance wins with one against open company and one versus state-breds. The recent race got a fast speed figure. (4) Manama Gold won all three of his career starts at Meydan in Dubai from December to February and has been off since then having moved to the barn of Todd Pletcher. (2) Roman Grace has a victory and a pair of seconds in his career for Pletcher with the win at Keeneland and the others at the Big A.

9th race [Astoria, 5 ½ F] – (3) French Horn went right to the front in her debut at Woodbine as the even money favorite for Mark Casse and led every step of the way. (4) West Memorial is the only stakes winner in the field with a victory in the Kentucky Juvenile at Churchill in her second start. (9) Long Neck Paula was a winner in her only start which was last month at Churchill for Wesley Ward. (2) Aoraki was also a first time winner in Kentucky but for Steve Asmussen.

10th race [Belmont Gold Cup, 2 mi TURF] – (10) Pioneering Spirit (B) began his career winning his first four starts last year and then moved into stakes competition and was recently third in the Fort Marcy (G2) after setting the pace. Last month he broke through the gate and then began the race in mid-pack. (12) Siskany is part of the Charlie Appleby and Godolphin American based barn. He won this race last year and a Group 3 at Meydan in February. (5) Starting Over won the long-distance Mac Diarmida (G2) at Gulfstream Park in March for Mike Maker. (11) The Grey Wizard was second in this race last year for Graham Motion.

Best bets: Almostgone Rocket (4th); French Horn (9th). Best value: Cammin’ Duke (3rd); Pioneering Spirit (10th).
