Grade 1 winners Book’em Danno and Locked top a field of 12 3-year-olds plus two also-eligibles entered Saturday for the 16th running of the $300,000 Perryville (G3).
The 7-furlong Perryville will go as the seventh race on next Saturday’s 10-race program with a 4:12 p.m. ET post time.
Atlantic Six Racing’s Book’em Danno, trained by Derek Ryan, has emerged as one of the top 3-year-old sprinters this year with a campaign highlighted by a victory in the Woody Stephens (G1) at Saratoga in June. Prior to that, he was beaten a head going a mile by the then-undefeated Forever Young (JPN) in the Boutique Group Saudi Derby (G3) in Saudi Arabia. Irad Ortiz Jr. has the mount from post 5.
Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners and Walmac Farm’s Locked will be making his first start since finishing third as the favorite in last November’s FanDuel Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (G1) Presented by Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance.
Winner of the Claiborne Breeders’ Futurity (G1) here last fall, Locked is trained by Todd Pletcher. Jose Ortiz has the mount from post 10.
