e Five Racing Thoroughbreds’ Carl Spackler (IRE) emerged from his 1-length victory in Saturday’s $1.25 million Coolmore Turf Mile (G1) in good order, according to Baldo Hernandez, assistant to trainer Chad Brown.
The Coolmore Turf Mile is a “Win and You’re In” race for the $2 million FanDuel Breeders’ Cup Mile (G1) Presented by PDJF to be run Nov. 2 at Del Mar. Carl Spackler already had secured a fees-paid entry into the race by virtue of his victory in the FanDuel Fourstardave Handicap (G1) in August at Saratoga.
Brown told New York Racing Association Publicity that Carl Spackler would remain at Keeneland to prepare for the Breeders’ Cup.
Earlier Saturday afternoon, Brown won the First Lady (G1) Presented by UK HealthCare for the seventh consecutive time as Gina Romantica scored a repeat victory. Hernandez said Gina Romantica would return to New York to rejoin Brown’s main string.
