Green Light Wins Wednesday’s Featured Woods Edge Purse

Peter E. Blum Thoroughbreds’ homebred Green Light collared Clever Mischief in deep stretch to post a neck victory in Wednesday’s featured $110,000 Woods Edge Purse for 3-year-olds and up. (Click here for a video of the race.)

Trained by Rodolphe Brisset and ridden by Jose Ortiz, Green Light completed the 1 1/16 miles over a turf course labeled as good in 1:44.05.

Green Light is a 3-year-old Kentucky-bred son of Hard Spun out of the Smart Strike mare Electric. Now sporting a 7-2-2-2 career mark, Green Light earned $63,085 for the victory to boost his earnings to $223,439.

Sent off as the favorite, Green Light returned $3.42, $2.46 and $2.38. Clever Mischief, ridden by Flavien Prat, returned $4.18 and $3.28 and finished 1¼ lengths in front of Boltage, who paid $6.36 to show under Florent Geroux.

The final pool of $2,427,483 for today’s early Pick 5 was a Keeneland record, besting the $1,696,981 set on Toyota Blue Grass Day during the 2024 Spring Meet and ranking nationally as the second-largest Pick 5 pool on a Wednesday. A $.50 wager paid $224.95.
