Thursday’s Pick 6 carryover is $286,380
Making her 2024 debut, Juddmonte’s homebred Accede collared Godolphin’s Amaretti in midstretch and scored a 1¾-length victory in the $120,000 Headley Purse on Wednesday at Keeneland to move Juddmonte into a tie with Godolphin atop the list of leading owners with five wins each. Winning jockey Irad Ortiz Jr. scored his 15th victory of the season to move into a tie with Tyler Gaffalione.
Trained by Chad Brown, the meet’s second-leading trainer with eight wins, Accede captured the 6-furlong race in 1:10.71. (Click here for a replay of the race.)
Accede, a 4-year-old Kentucky-bred filly by Into Mischief, is out of the Mizzen Mast mare Jibboom, who won Keeneland’s Lexus Raven Run (G2) in 2007. Today’s victory was worth $73,470 to increase Accede’s career earnings to $263,650 with a record of 7-3-0-1.
The winner paid $5.56, $2.66 and $2.22. Favored Amaretti, with Jose Ortiz aboard, returned $2.62 and $2.10 and finished 3¾ lengths in front of Ervadean, who paid $2.64 to show under Julien Leparoux.
