Keeneland congratulates the equine champions and outstanding horsemen in Thoroughbred racing during 2024 who were honored tonight at the 54th annual Resolute Racing Eclipse Awards Ceremony at The Breakers Palm Beach in Florida. Many have a Keeneland connection either through auctions or races.
Keeneland joined John Deere, National Thoroughbred Racing Association (NTRA) and The Jockey Club as presenting sponsors of the ceremony.
Eclipse Awards winners were selected by the NTRA, Daily Racing Form and National Turf Writers and Broadcasters.
Among the champions were these graduates of Keeneland sales with their 2024 graded stakes victories:
Citizen Bull (Two-Year-Old Male): Robert Low and Lawana Low bred the winner of the FanDuel Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (G1) Presented by Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance and the American Pharoah (G1) Presented by DK Horse. Taylor Made Sales Agency, agent, consigned the Into Mischief colt to the 2023 September Yearling Sale, where he sold to Donato Lanni, agent for SF Bloodstock/Starlight Racing/Madaket Stables. SF, Starlight and Madaket raced Citizen Bull, who is trained by Bob Baffert, in partnership with Stonestreet Stables, Dianne Bashor, Determined Stables, Robert E. Masterson, Tom J. Ryan, Waves Edge Capital and Catherine Donovan.
Moira (Female Turf Horse): Bred by Adena Springs, Moira was consigned by Hidden Brook, agent, to the 2020 September Yearling Sale and sold to X-Men Racing for $150,000. The daughter of Ghostzapper won the Maker’s Mark Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Turf (G1) and the Beverly D. (G2). Kevin Attard trained Moira for Madaket Stables, SF Racing and X-Men Racing.

Idiomatic (Older Dirt Female) took the Juddmonte Spinster (G1) at the Fall Meet.
Immersive (Two-Year-Old Filly) won the Fall Meet’s Darley Alcibiades (G1).
Sierra Leone (Three-Year-Old Male) captured the Toyota Blue Grass (G1) during the Spring Meet.

Sheikh Mohammed Al Maktoum’s Godolphin (Owner and Breeder) was the leading owner during both the Spring Meet (five wins to tie with Juddmonte) and the Fall Meet (four wins). Godolphin’s Spring Meet stakes wins were the Maker’s Mark Mile (G1) with Master of The Seas (IRE), the VisitLEX Elkhorn (G2) with Silver Knott (GB) and the Stonestreet Lexington (G3) with Encino. Fall Meet stakes wins were the Claiborne Breeders’ Futurity (G1) with East Avenue and the Darley Alcibiades (G1) with Immersive.
Flavien Prat (Jockey) scored 21 wins at Keeneland during the year. His Spring Meet stakes victories were the MiddleGround Capital Beaumont (G2) on Denim and Pearls, the VisitLEX Elkhorn (G2) on Silver Knott (GB) and the Baird Doubledogdare (G3) on Raging Sea. He rode Federal Judge to win the Stoll Keenon Ogden Phoenix (G2) during the Fall Meet.
Erik Asmussen (Apprentice Jockey) had 17 mounts at Keeneland during the Fall Meet.
Chad Brown (Trainer) won 11 races at Keeneland, including five stakes. During the Spring Meet, he took the Toyota Blue Grass (G1) with Sierra Leone, the Jenny Wiley (G1) with Beaute Cachee (FR) and the Baird Doubledogdare (G3) with Raging Sea. His Fall Meet stakes wins were the Coolmore Turf Mile (G1) with Carl Spackler (IRE) and the First Lady (G1) with Gina Romantica.
