Limited Liability Charges Late to Win Sunday’s Featured Redbud Purse

Stuart S. Janney III’s homebred and heavy favorite Limited Liability charged down the center of the turf course to catch Bakwena in the final strides to win Sunday’s featured $120,000 Redbud Purse for 4-year-olds and up at Keeneland. (Click here for a video of the race.)

Trained by Shug McGaughey and ridden by Irad Ortiz Jr. Limited Liability won by a head and covered 1 1/8 miles on the turf course labeled good in 1:49.56.

Today’s victory came in the 2023 debut for Limited Liability, a 4-year-old colt by Kitten’s Joy out of the Blame mare Hold Harmless. Graded stakes-placed in New York and Virginia, he earned $72,540 for the win to increase his career bankroll to $315,573 with a record of 9-3-0-4.

Limited Liability returned $4.14, $3.16 and $2.32. Runner-up Bakwena, who was ridden by Tyler Gaffalione, paid $4.68 and $3.06 to show. Finishing third was Alex Joon, who paid $2.56 to show under Julien Leparoux.
