Thanks to BBN Racing’s Mo Stash, trainer Vicki Oliver spent a relaxing dinner out on the town Friday night to celebrate her first Keeneland stakes victory in the $400,000 Kentucky Utilities Transylvania (G3).
“Went out with the BBN team,” Oliver said. “Not out too late; had 16 workers this morning.”
Mo Stash had been knocking on the door to stakes success with runner-up finishes in the Columbia Stakes at Tampa Bay Downs and here last fall in the Indian Summer (L) Presented by Keeneland Select.
“He ate up last night and is good this morning,” Oliver said. “The plan is to go to the ($500,000) American Turf (G2 on May 6 at Churchill Downs). “We will see how he trains and probably take him over the morning of the race. He’s a pretty cool dude; nothing bothers him.”
Mo Stash was one of four horses in the Kentucky Utilities Transylvania that had run here last fall in the $1 million Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf (G1). Those runners made up four of the top five finishers Friday with Nagirroc running second, Webslingerthird and Andthewinneris fifth.
Trainer Graham Motion ruled the American Turf out for Nagirroc.
“He is pretty tired this morning, and we will give him some time to get over this,” Motion said. “Probably look at the ($400,000) Penn Mile (G2 on Penn National on June 2).”
Trainer Mark Casse said Webslinger “ran good” and would head to Churchill on Sunday to point to the American Turf.
Andthewinneris had a troubled trip in finishing fifth, beaten 4 lengths. Trainer Wayne Catalano said the American Turf might be next for Andthewinneris, who won the Castle & Key Bourbon (G2) here last fall.
