Wesley Ward (trainer of winner Love Reigns-IRE and runner-up Lady Hollywood-GB)

“She’s a special filly. I’ve kind of been waiting for this to come out since her maiden win here. She likes Keeneland, she loved the course when she broke her maiden here a year ago, and we’re just real, real happy it worked out. (Jockey) Joel (Rosario) is kind of my come-from-behind guy that I ride on horses that I like to do that with – which aren’t many, but this being one. He’s just a phenomenal rider. He gets them back there, gets them to relax. He had us a little worried there at the eighth pole, but thank God the seas parted and he came through and he won.”

On Love Reign’s improvement from a 2-year-old to a 3-year-old

“Today, I’ll tell you, that was great. Any 3-year-old filly in a tough sprint—you know, these are the toughest 3-year-old fillies on the grass sprinting in the United States right now—so for her to do that, overcome all that trouble and still win, she’s a good filly.”

On whether she will head to Royal Ascot in England for the King’s Stand Stakes (G1):

“We hope so. (Owner) Barbara (Banke of Stonestreet Stables) did it before with Lady Aurelia (in 2017), a 3-year-old filly, so hopefully with this filly – she’s got big shoes to fill, but hopefully we can do it.”

Joel Rosario (winning rider)

On recovering from being stopped in traffic in the stretch

“That was very impressive. She really put it together. We were following a couple of horses and she really came with a nice move. She put herself together and got back, and that was unbelievable.”

John Velazquez (rider of Lady Hollywood)

“Perfect trip, not good enough.”

Irad Ortiz Jr. (rider of third-place finisher My Sweet Affair)

“Good trip, perfect trip. We broke, the speed went, I sat and waited. Turning for home I just got beat.”
