Vicki Oliver (winning trainer of Mo Stash, her first Keeneland stakes winner)
“There was a lot of pacing going on up there and I thought, ‘Oh, geez, now we’re going to have to set the pace.’ We were kind of getting pushed down the backside, and then (jockey Luis) Saez slipped away and got out on his own, and he could relax and little bit, and when he turned for home prevailed on and ran a really good race.”
On bringing the horse along in his 3-year-old campaign
“It’s still going to be a question mark about how far he will go, but today it looked like he just kept going and could go another sixteenth. That might just be his running style. There’s a lot of races out there between a mile, mile-and-an-eighth. We’ll just have to pick them out as we go.”
Luis Saez (winning rider)
“I just put my hands down and he relaxed. He’s a pretty smart horse. (Trainer) Vicki (Oliver) is doing a magnificent job with him. He’s always ready. Last time, in Tampa, he ran a great race (when second in the Columbia Stakes on March 11). Today he was much better. At the top of the turn he just kept going. He loves the turf, he loves to run here on this turf course and, like I said, Vicki did a great job.”
Flavien Prat (rider of runner-up and beaten favorite Nagirroc)
“I had a good trip. It looked like I was going to be the winner turning for home. The horse on the lead (winner Mo Stash) never stopped. It was not a crazy fast pace, but I was really close to the lead.”
