Brad Cox (winning trainer of Corona Bolt)
On refocusing the horse back to sprinting
“I think he’s meant to be a one-turn horse. When you do that, you have to breeze them a little sharper, maybe not train them quite as much throughout the week. Overall I think he’s found his thing around one turn. I’m not sure how far he wants to go. I want to congratulate (owner) Stonestreet (Stables). He’s a very, very good colt. I’m thankful for the opportunity with him and I think he has a big future. We need to find some graded stakes for him and we’re excited about what lies ahead.”
Florent Geroux (winning jockey)
“He was great. Usually the start is his weakness; sometimes he doesn’t get away very fast, but today I thought he took a big step forward. He broke very sharp for me and took command right from the beginning. From there I thought the pressure was pretty honest. I was able to take a nice big breather on the turn and he was very brave at the end. When he switched leads, he was able to find another gear and he was very brave all the way to the end.”
John Velazquez (rider of runner-up and beaten favorite Hezaji)
“He broke a little bit slow from the gate. Right after that he got into a good rhythm on the backside. The last sixteenth of a mile, he was tired.”
Gerardo Corrales (rider of third-place finisher Freezing Point)
“It was a good try. It was a beautiful try.”
