1st race [NY, Seeking the Ante, 6F] – (4) Accelerating (A) was a clear winner by more than four lengths in her debut last month for Steve Asmussen at 5-2 odds. (1) Bellacose (A) won her first start by almost 11 lengths last month and was eased up late at 6-1. (5) Carmen’s Candy Jar broke her maiden at first asking and then was fourth against open company in the Schylerville. (2) Central to Success won her first start at Parx by almost eight lengths as a heavy favorite and now faces NY-breds.
7th race [NY, Alw 95000 N1X, 1 1/16 mi TURF] – (11) Roagna (B) broke well, but got pulled back off the pace, was unsettled under restraint, and then was wide. Blinkers come off. (7) Island Fox took to the turf in her second start when she broke her maiden in a field of 12. (9) Lakeside Getaway has plenty of early speed and should get loose on the lead. (12) Midnight Concerto rallied from last to get third in her first start on the grass. She will get Lasix for the first time.
9th race [NY, Funny Cide, 6F] – (7) Under Who’s Radar (A) was a very fast debut winner for a trainer that usually does not try to win with firsters. (8) In the Chase (A) was a clear front-end winner of his first start at 7-2. (10) Mo Plex is undefeated after two starts with a 10-length win at Aqueduct and then the Sanford (G3) at Saratoga. (4) Mi Bago won his debut at Colonial and changed to the barn of Mark Casse.
11th race [NY, Md Sp Wt, 1 1/16 mi TURF] – (2) Capital Spending (A) broke from the far outside in a large field, pressed the pace, and had to go wide the entire race. (5) Luna Patina ran the best race of her career in June when she got the lead and fought hard after a wide trip. (10) Bobby M’s Girl pressed the pace and kept on to finished third. (3) Gallant Greta gets Lasix for her second start for a barn that does not often win with firsters.
Best bets: Accelerating (1st); Under Who’s Radar (9th). Best value: Roagna (7th); Capital Spending (11th).
