2nd race [Md Sp Wt, 1 1/16 mi TURF] – (2) Authentic Gallop (B) showed speed in debut with odds of 3-1, adds blinkers, and comes from a mare that has produced several winners. (3) Royal Presence was entered for the turf for his debut but ran on the main track for Bill Mott who is better with second-time starters anyway. (6) Statesman was in that same situation at 7-1 for Shug McGaughey and finished third. (8) Early Adopter has European breeding and will make his first start for Chad Brown.
3rd race [NY, Alw 95000 N1X, 5 ½ F TURF] – (5) Kreesa (B) was bumped and steadied at the half-mile pole and then rallied to get up for second. (6) Your Man Alex was beaten by only a neck last time at Saratoga for connections that are having a great meeting with just a few starters. (7) Nano Man ran the best race of his career last time in breaking his maiden and gets Lasix for the first time. (3) Twisted Filigree did not appreciate having to run on the main track last time after three excellent races on the turf.
4th race [Md 20000, 6 ½ F] – (1) Yingle Bells (B) was fourth following a layoff, but the rider lost his crop during the stretch drive. (4) Conniving dropped down to this level and just missed the win by a nose. (7) Confabulation gets blinkers on, cuts back in distance, and drops down after his first start. (9) Forced Errors tried the turf in his second start and goes back to the main track where he was third in his debut.
11th race [Spinaway (G1), 7F] – (10) Bellacose (A) was geared down when she won a maiden race for NY-breds by almost 11-lengths last month for trainer Jeremiah Englehart who recently won the Funny Cide with a fast NY-bred colt. (8) The Queens M G has a career record of 4: 3-0-0 and leads the field with the most victories and earnings. She won her first start in April at Keeneland at 45-1 and was sold privately. Her first start for Saffie Joseph Jr. was in the Astoria during the June Saratoga meeting where she had a rough start that resulted in a seventh-place finish as the 2-1 favorite. She bounced right back as a long shot again in the Schuylerville winning at 44-1. Earlier in the month she added a victory in the Adirondack (G3) at odds of 5-2. (11) Quietside was a speedy maiden winner by more than six-lengths at Saratoga on the Adirondack undercard. (7) Pondering was an odds-on winner of her debut at Ellis Park in July for Brandan Walsh.
Best bets: Authentic Gallop (2nd); Kreesa (5th). Best value: Yingle Bells (4th); Bellacose (11th).
