1st race [Clm 25000, 6F] – (3) Speakinofthedevil shipped to Saratoga to join the Asmussen barn and that alone indicates there is some quality in this horse. He won a maiden special weight by more than 11 lengths and then moved to a turf sprint allowance and ran third. (2) Fight Fiercely was claimed for $30,000 two races back by Joe Sharp and tried a much higher open claimer. The blinkers come off now and that is a winning move for Sharp. (4) Gabe has been off since April when he won an allowance at Belterra Park by more than nine lengths. He did break his maiden for a $25,000 tag at Gulfstream Park. (6) Giroovin was claimed for $75,000 last month at Ellis Park from a race where he was badly beaten.

2nd race [Clm 25000 N2L, 1 mi] – (7) Yogi (B) returned from a short layoff, dropped down in class, pressed the pace, got the lead, and was beaten by a length by another horse that was making a big drop down. (3) Jolly Miss Jill raced over her head last time in a starter allowance after she was claimed for $30,000 by Linda Rice when she was second. (5) Alice Kramden was claimed from a NY-bred maiden claimer for $30,000 and then tried a starter allowance. Now she drops back down and gets blinkers on. (4) Bravo Regina returns from an April layoff following a pair of seconds in the $16,000 N2L races.

6th race [Mdn 75000, 1 mi TURF] – (1) Rockstar Red (A) was second in a $40,000 race last time when he fought off a few horses to get the lead in the stretch but was overtaken near the wire to finish second and was claimed by Linda Rice. (11) He’s Got Swagger has three second-place finishes out of five in maiden special weights and now runs for a tag for the first time. (9) Liquid Addiction raced in three Kentucky maiden special weights and was third in June in a turf sprint. This will be his first try in a claimer. (4) Cumberland missed a maiden win at Gulfstream by a nose and then was vanned off from a subsequent maiden special weight at Belmont.

7th race [Alw 149500 N1X, 1 3/16 mi] – (6) Film Star has three second-place finishes in a row in first level allowances after getting claimed by Linda Rice. (2) Ouster had a second in a similar allowance two races back after winning the highest NY-bred allowance. Most recently he did little running in a state-bred stakes race. (7) Pledgeofallegiance won his last two starts in Kentucky taking a $50,000 claimer at Churchill and then a starter allowance at Ellis Park. (4) Complete Agenda has a second and a pair of thirds at this allowance level in his last three starts.

Best bets: Speakinofthedevil (1st); Film Star (7th). Best value: Yogi (2nd); Rockstar Red (6th).
