1st race [NY, Md Sp Wt, 5½ F TURF] – (5) Marco T. (B) was taken up between horses and then rallied clear for third just behind a horse that came back to win her next start. (2) Red Burgundy (C) was bet down from 6-1 to 3-1 in her debut in a race that was meant for the turf, set the pace, and finished third. (8) Khadullah was second in an off the turf race going a mile and cuts back in this turf sprint. (6) Split Strike moves from dirt to turf after a pair of fourth-place finishes for the Clement barn.

5th race [NY, Md Sp Wt, 5½ F TURF] – (11) Lady Banker (B) made a big improvement in her second start of the year when she went to the lead and finished second from the far outside post-position. (1) Russi will look to get on the turf for the first time after a pair of seconds after pressing the pace in races that came off the turf. (4) Voleuse was second by just a neck in her first start of the year and gets blinkers on. (3) Okaloosa was second in her first start last time in a race that was meant for the grass.

10th race [Hopeful (G1), 7F] – (11) Pirate (A) was a highly touted debut runner for Todd Pletcher that won by three lengths as the odds-on favorite at Saratoga in July. (5) Timberlake won his second start for Brad Cox in Kentucky by almost 10 lengths beating a horse that came back to win. (7) Muth as frequently happens won his first start by a big margin for Bob Baffert as a heavy favorite. The $2 million 2-year-old purchase then ran second in the Best Pal (G2). Both races earned speed figures that top this field. (6) Gold Sweep won the Tremont by nine lengths and was then second in the Sanford (G3) at Saratoga after a bad stumble at the break put him at the back of the field.

11th race [NY, Md Sp Wt, 1 1/16 mi TURF] – (8) Chulligan (B) was twice bumped, taken up, and then had to race wide in what was his first start of 2023 in June. (12) Scaramanga (D) was bet down when last seen in February at Aqueduct and now tries the turf for the first time. (11) Lt. Mitchell has run well three times at Saratoga already. (10) Prix de West will get Lasix for the first time as trainer Bill Mott will try and get him onto the grass again.

Best bets: Marco T. (1st); Chulligan (11th). Best value: Lady Banker (5th); Pirate (10th).
