$600,000 Darley Alcibiades (G1)

Friday, October 4

The Alcibiades takes its name from the great foundation mare Alcibiades, who was owned by Hal Price Headley, one of Keeneland’s founders. More than a dozen stakes winners, including Menow, Firm Policy, Salaminia, Lithe, Rash Statement, Secret Hello, Silent Account and Sir Ivor, descend from Alcibiades. Darley began sponsoring the race in 2003. The $600,000 Darley Alcibiades (G1) is for 2-year-old fillies going 1 1/16 miles on the main track. The winner receives a spot in the starting gate for the $2 million Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1).

2023 Replay

In 2023 Candied captured the Darley Alcibiades (G1) for trainer Todd Pletcher, jockey Luis Saez, and owner Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners.
